In this newsletter you can find tips for where to learn danish, both for children and adults and varying from beginners to advanced danish.
We still have 3 vacant spots for the culture shock event next week, but you also have the option to join us visiting a local club trying out the Cricket in early November or to be spooked at a Haunted house Halloween event. You can find options for free cultural events during cultural days or inspiration for fall break activities.

Fri Oct 15th and Sat Oct 16th 2022 are cultural days, where you can explore art and music at many of the cultural venues. Most of the events are for free and you will find options for both children and adults.

Inspiration for fall break
Oct 14 to Oct 23 during the fall break some of the cultural institutions offer events for example concerts or art events, Esbjerg city offer Halloween events and the break also gives you a chance to explore some of the fall nature activities in Denmark such as starling magic or mushroom hunting. Following the link you will find a little inspiration for entertainment during the fall break.

Danish for children 2 timer om ugen
At 2 timer om ugen (2 hours per week) children age 3 to 8 can be matched with a volunteer to learn and practise danish to expand vocabulary and pronunciation through games, tours and company.

FVU Danish-reading
FVU meaning continuing adult education and is a common concept in Denmark. Several schools offer FVU Danish classes to improve your Danish skills. You will need to speak basic Danish prior to starting FVU Danish-reading. Basic level usually corresponds minimum to the first 2 modules of the municipality Danish Tuition or to being able to speak Danish freely in a dialogue.

Language café at the Mentor Network
When: Saturdays, 10am. - 12pm. (basic speakers and beginners) - Where: 2nd floor, Vindrosen, Exnersgade 4, 6700 Esbjerg

Language Café at the Cross Cultural Centre
When: Thursdays 3.30 pm. to 5.30 pm. and 5.45 pm. to 7.30 pm. - Where: Kvaglundparken 18, 6705 Kvaglund (the house behind the church).

Covid-19 booster vaccine
The Danish Health Authority expects that the number of covid-19 infections will increase during autumn and winter. Therefore, they recommend a booster vaccination of people aged 50 years and over as well as selected risk groups.
Those age 50+ can now book a time for vaccination here: https://www.vacciner.dk
Are you below age 50, but wish for a vaccination due to your conditions you can fill in a sloemn declaration when booking a time or you can talk to your doctor, who can set up a vaccination process for you.
