NemID will change to MitID – what does it mean for you?
One of these days you might hear about NemID changing to MitID, and that your personal information in NemID must be updated before you can get MitID to confirm your NemID identity. This is done by scanning Danish passport.
So what if you do not have a Danish passport?
Do not worry. You can still use your NemID exactly as you normally would do, whether you update your ID information or not.
You only need to do something now if you have a Danish passport issued after 1st January 2012 or a smartphone that can scan the chip in the passport.
If you do not have such, disregard the message you might receive with Digital Post about MitID. You can continue to use your NemID exactly as you normally would do. Later on you will receive Digital Post from the Danish Agency for Digitalization, where you will be told what you need to do to get MitID.
